The Medical School was founded in 1837. During its 184 years of operation, it provides an extremely high level of education and produces research activity that ranks it among the 150 best Medical Schools in the world. Today, the School has 3054 undergraduate and 5000 postgraduate students. The School operates a total of 86 University Clinics and Laboratories located in Goudi, in University Hospitals such as Attiko, Laiko, Aretaio and Aiginitio and in NSS Hospitals such as Ippokratio, Sotiria, Evangelismos, Alexandron. Sophia and Agl. Kyriakou, Gennimatas, Sismanogleio, A. Syggros, KAT, Ag. Olga, offering daily high level health services and performing almost 40% of the total pastoral work in the Attica basin.
